About Ephraim

As a third-generation Colorado native, I am proud to have grown up in the beautiful Rocky Mountain region. I was born and raised in metro Denver, and, together with my family, have regularly skied Summit County for five decades. After graduating first in my class at Cherry Creek High School, I moved to the East Coast where I earned degrees in English and Physics from Amherst College and received a J.D. with high distinction from Duke University School of Law.

I began my career in Los Angeles, California with Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a firm ranked World #1 by AmLaw, focusing on business and intellectual property litigation. I also held executive positions at Honeywell, Lenovo, Danaher, and PHC Holdings, where I spearheaded the transformation of legal departments and legal operations for businesses with annual sales ranging from $50M to $4.5B. In these roles, I had a reputation for superb client service, judgment, practicality, trustworthiness, and team-building. I earned top leadership awards for work in global intellectual property and dispute resolution at Honeywell and in environmental health and safety at Danaher.

One year after taking PHC Holdings public in October 2021, I opened my own practice, Ephraim Starr, pllc, with the hope of sharing all the experience I have gained as a seasoned general counsel with businesses and executives who will benefit from a pragmatic and highly tailored approach. As the father of a student who has dealt with myriad special educational challenges, I also hope to use my experience to support other families by finding solutions that enrich the educations of their students with disabilities.

I live in Evergreen, Colorado with my wife and best friend of 26 years, Donna, and my three wonderful children, Isaac (19), Sylvia (15), and Elliott (also 15). We love our community and the mountains that surround us. I appreciate skiing and cycling and being able to live a healthy lifestyle that helps me to take care of my family and focus on my work.
